Who can volunteer?

Channel One welcomes seniors, youth, religious organizations and corporate groups, service clubs, and individuals. However, because of safety considerations, Channel One, Inc. is unable to accommodate children under the age of 10 for volunteer projects on-site. Channel One, Inc. will be happy to discuss other ways for younger children and groups to be involved in our work, and will attempt to accommodate tours for younger groups during some hours of operation.

What are your volunteer hours?

Volunteer hours vary depending on the volunteer opportunity. Most volunteer hours are Mondays – Thursdays 8am – 7:30pm and Fridays 8am – Noon.

Can groups volunteer?

Yes! Channel One loves working with groups. We can accommodate groups Mondays and Thursdays between the hours of 8am and 8pm and Tuesdays and Wednesdays between the hours of 8am and 4pm.

What is the maximum size of a volunteer group?

Channel One can accommodate groups between 5 and 20 people (no more). Ideally we would like 10 – 15 volunteers.

Can I bring my children to volunteer with me?

We encourage you to engage your children in service opportunities, however do to safety considerations, Channel One, Inc. is unable to accommodate children under the age of 10 for volunteer projects on-site. What type of commitment do I have to make?

There is no pressure to make a commitment, however – we would love to have you become a regular volunteer. We have volunteers that come once and only once as well as volunteers that come once a week, once a month, once every other week or once every other month. We also have volunteers that come as often as their schedule allows. We will work with your schedule to figure out where your talent and time can be put to the best use.

May I come as a court appointed volunteer?

Yes! Channel One does take individuals needing to fulfill court appointed service hours.

When I arrive at Channel One, where do I sign in?

Individual volunteers sign in at the Receptionist desk in the front lobby. Volunteer groups working in the clean room or warehouse generally sign in at those locations. Your assigned supervisor will be able to direct you to the correct sign in sheet if there is confusion – but the main concern is just that all volunteers record their hours in some form.

Where do I park?

Volunteers should park in the parking lot east of the main parking lot. During winter hours, volunteers working until dark should park in the main parking lot in front of the building.
