Hunger Action Month

Thanks to your partnership last year, Channel One Regional Food Bank was able to
distribute nearly 10 million pounds of food to over 100,000 people and 3,700 Olmsted County families visited the Channel One Supplemental Food Shelf every single month.

Join our September Hunger Action Month campaign to take action on the issue of hunger and to raise funds to provide enough food for 400,000 meals . For each dollar donated to Channel One, we can provide enough food for 5 meals. Your support of this campaign will continue to change the lives of those in need in our community.

SEPTEMBER IS HUNGER ACTION MONTH™

WHAT: Hunger Action Month (September) is a nationwide campaign to mobilize the public to take action on the issue of hunger. Channel One Regional Food Bank is particpating in the this campaign organized by Feeding America®, to bring greater attention to the issue of hunger in America and promote ways for individuals everywhere to get involved with the movement to solve it. Hunger Action Day™, which is September 4th, is a day where nationwide efforts are focused for greater impact.
WHO: Feeding America is a nationwide network of food banks and the largest domestic hunger-relief organization. Inspired by passionate food bank leaders, what began in 2002 as Hunger Action Day grew into a nationwide awareness campaign for the entire month of September in 2008. This year will be the 7th annual Hunger Action Month organized by the Feeding America and each year Channel One Regional Food Bank has increased participation.
WHY: Hunger exists in every county in the country, affecting 49 million Americans including 16 million children. In Olmsted County, 12,670 Minnesotans are struggling with hunger. Hunger is a solvable issue and Channel One is fighting to end it.
HOW: You can help by mobilizing your community through any of the actions below. As individuals, charities, businesses and government, we all have a role to play in getting food to our neighbors in need.
